Just watched 12 Lotus today. Realised hokkien songs (not those annoying beng ones..) are impossibly sad. There's just something that speaks straight into the soul. Or maybe it's just me. Have no idea why people gave it such bad reviews and comments. Perhaps I didnt watch 881 and had no basis for comparison but then again, maybe these people just dont like sad movies. (Or they are just too dumb to see the point of the movies.. Some comments are downright ridiculous.. see example below.) Yes there were weird pieces of scenes that dont seem to fit together but that's just the way the lead actress' life was.
HOW CAN HER LIFE POSSIBLY MAKE SENSE TO HER?
To cut a long sad story short, 12 Lotus is about the life of a getai singer who has a serious case of bad luck. Physically abused by her father as a child, cheated (in every possible way) by her bf/husband once her father died and AGAIN abused by some random guy in her mid-life once her bf/husband dumped her.
And all because of money.
It breaks my heart just to think about it. I wanted to reach into the show to comfort her. (It's that sad ok!)
She didnt deserve any of those crap that happened to her. Then again, most unfortunate people probably dont.
Why do people suffer so...

What I loved most: stefanie sun
What I really hated: sudden musicals and choice of songs which do not really fit the scene.
Comments: this is really about the worst movie i've ever watched. although i understand the storyline and everything, it's a really really really boring movie which makes you learn nothing worthy in the end. i mean, when you watch movies, even cartoons like Kungfu Panda, teaches you something. even tragedy like Titanic makes you feel something after watching it. but this movie? it just put you into a tragedy mode throughout (which i think is what the director wants actually. ). tragedies do not really have to boring though. but this is downright boring. i only got excited when i saw stefanie sun's face. hahaha. boring, boring, boring. why pay money to become immersed in sadness (with no values taught)? you can get it for free in life. haha."
This comment is so stupid that i cant even begin commenting on it. I can never stop should I even try to begin. Sigh.
